Innovation

Always Aiming Higher

Advancements for the next generation

We always aim to be "the best at getting better."

Innovation is key to the STEAM program at Catholic Central. That is why we are excited to offer programs like robotics, entrepreneurship class, a STEAM designation, Career Connections, and an internship program. These opportunities allow for students to learn vital lessons for future careers in a variety of fields.

Students have the opportunity to participate in Career Talks, guest speakers in classes, mentorships, mock job interviews, and various workshops to prepare them for their future. Some of our recent Career Talks have represented fields such as medical, engineering, journalism, criminal justice, financial advising, and more! Future opportunities include job shadowing and internships with Catholic Central parents, alumni, and friends.

The entrepreneurship class looks to teach real life skills that will prepare students for careers in marketing, business, and management.

The entrepreneurship class demonstrates its efficacy through tangible results: students have launched their own student-led cafe, named the Cougar Cafe, which is now operational within the school!

“The entrepreneurship program involves opportunities for collaboration, and everyone gets a chance to voice their opinion. It helped us as a class not only start a business, but learn the steps it takes to get a business up and running.”

Gena, Class of ‘23

Robotics is on the move. The first Robotics kickoff began with the announcement of the task required for 2023 competition: transporting and stacking packages effectively and efficiently. The CC team chose the name “The Spires.” This name is a nod to our location in “The Heart of the City” next to the spires of the Cathedral of Saint Andrew, as well as the 5 Spire Principles of Life that include: Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relational, and Emotional. And of course, its importance as part of the word – Inspire!

“Robotics offers great opportunities for teamwork and collaboration. It is an exciting and innovative teaching tool that facilitates STEM learning through skill building such as coding, manufacturing, and leadership. This boosts creativity and provides students with skills that are transferable to today’s world.”

The STEAM- (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) designated curriculum has been developed to support students interested in exploring careers in related fields. Students who wish to participate in this program will supplement their college preparatory coursework with STEAM- designated classes and experiences. In order to support the ongoing relationship the Church has with science and technology, students will also participate in experiences that explore faith and reason. Students may opt into the program beginning freshman year. Upon successful completion, they will receive a designation on their transcript and recognition during senior year.

Students have the opportunity to participate in STEAM-related Career Talks, guest speakers in classes, site visits, job shadowing, internships, and STEAM partnership academic learning opportunities.
