CC’s band and choir groups are highly awarded, with top ratings at adjudicated festivals at the regional and state level.
There are many opportunities for performing. In the fall, you can find the CC marching band entertaining the crowd at Cougar Stadium for all home varsity football games. A trip to the state finals for the football teams includes an opportunity for the marching band to perform on Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Every other year, the marching band performs for a larger national audience. A highlight is the quadrennial trip to perform at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
The choir also enjoys many opportunities for public performances, from weekly all-school Mass to seasonal concerts, including the popular Christmas concert at the Cathedral of St. Andrew and annual holiday wassail performance. A highlight for many choir students is the every-four-years trip to sing throughout Italy, including a performance in Vatican City.
Theatre is offered as an extracurricular activity at Catholic Central. Three plays/musicals are produced annually.
All plays and musicals are performed at the state-of-the-art Aquinas College Performing Arts Center, located nearby on the Aquinas College campus. Typically, productions include three evening and two matinee performances.
In visual arts, students engage in various media, respect artistic expression, critically evaluate works, understand the role of art in cultural and historical contexts, and learn to be a discerning artist in everyday life. Courses include drawing, design, graphic arts, and more.
