MICHIGAN MARCH FOR LIFE - This year the Michigan March for Life falls on Thursday, November 6th, and we are sending a bus of students to Lansing to march and advocate for the rights of the unborn. If you would like to attend, please get $25 to Mrs. Lambert as soon as possible...Seats are being scooped up FAST! You will be back in time for ALL after school activities!

OPEN HOUSE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - The CC Open House is right around the corner, and we're asking for your help. Please review all of the details below and reach out to Mr. Sloan if you have any questions!

  • What: CC Open House 2025
  • When: Sunday, November 9th | 12:15 PM - 4:15 PM
  • Who: Student Volunteers, any student that would like to volunteer for Open House!
  • Where: CC High School
  • Incentives: You will receive 4 service hours for working the entire event (that will be eligible for House Points!) and you will get a dress down day on Tuesday, November 11th.

Please register using this link. We will need students to lead tours, serve at sports and clubs tables, and to be present and help direct traffic, among other tasks that we may have for you. We will release instructions once we have the list of students who will be attending.

MORNING AND AFTERNOON TUTORING 

  • MORNING TUTORING with Mrs. Ciucci will be available Tuesday and Thursday from 7:15am-8:00am in Student Support Services Room 305. 
  • AFTERNOON TUTORING with Ms. Oman will take place in the 2nd Floor Student Center on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00pm. 

BAND FUNDRAISER - The Band’s Annual Mattress Sale is coming up soon! Join them next Sunday, Nov 2nd from 11:00am-4:00pm at the CAT. This is a great opportunity for students to get a mattress protector for college next year. Money earned goes towards the Band Chicago trip.

SAINT CECILIA WINTERGUARD - Join the St. Cecilia Winterguard for open spin and tryouts this winter. See the FLYER for more information!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

  • ASA is hosting a small art show in our gymnasium for the artists and their families on Tuesday, October 28th at 5:30 PM. It’s almost time to show families all of the hard work and time that students have put into their masterpieces! They are looking for three volunteers to set up and help at the art show from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday October 28th. The Art Show is going to be in the gymnasium at our lower campus which is located at 2233 Diamond Ave Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Responsibilities would include: hanging pictures, checking in kids and families for our service project, assisting with snack service, and helping at our bowl painting station (we have 25 people who will be painting bowls for God’s Kitchen).   • The St. John Vianney Auction needs your help! Auction will be held on Saturday, November 8. This is a great opportunity to earn service hours, get involved, and enjoy a free dinner while you're at it. Sign up HERE to volunteer.

BLUE & WHITE NEWS - The Blue and White has shifted from print to digital. Please check out and subscribe to our website at https://catholiccentralblueandwhite.com/. New stories will be posted several times a week. 

COUGAR GEAR STORE - Looking for something new to wear? The Cougar Gear Store has you covered! In store they have 3 full racks of LuluLemon, North face fleece jackets, new styles of beanies, and many other new items for sale. Below is a list of dates that the Cougar Gear store will be open. They will also be open for playoff games for football & soccer. The store will be open for 3-4 Christmas shopping dates.

STEAM OPPORTUNITIES - On November 12th, Progressive Companies (not the insurance company) will hold a Fall Job Shadow Event at their headquarters. You get to hear about the company, do an interactive activity, and learn about the many careers they employ (engineers, architects, designers, etc). Lunch is also included. You can learn about each of these disciplines to determine which one might be the best fit for you. Register at the link on the flyer. You also need to let Mrs. VanderMolen know about your plans to attend, so she can make sure your absence that day is considered school related. STEAM hours apply!

SEAL OF BILITERACY - Seniors - Are you proficient in more than one language? Through a series of tests you can earn the Seal of Biliteracy to list on your resume and professional social media (LinkedIn). The Michigan Seal of Biliteracy has been created to recognize high school graduates who exhibit proficiency in English and at least one additional world language via several approved pathways. The Seal has been created to encourage students to study world languages and embrace their native and heritage languages. It will provide employers with a way to identify individuals with strong language and biliteracy skills and may serve as an additional tool for colleges and universities to recognize applicants' language abilities for admission and placement. Any seniors who are proficient in more than one language MUST COMPLETE this FORM to sign up for testing NO LATER THAN November 3. Questions? Mrs. Smitley, Mrs.Beck, Ms. Nini or Mr.Kamper.

ADVANCE PLACEMENT TESTING - All students enrolled in an AP course are required to take the AP test at the end of the year. Catholic Central will order an AP test for every student enrolled in a course. Any student who is interested in taking an AP test who is not enrolled in the course must notify their counselor by Friday, October 31st. The fee for each AP test is $99.
