PSAT INFORMATION - 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will be taking the digital PSAT on Thursday, October 17th. Taking the PSAT provides valuable practice for the SAT, the primary college entrance exam taken by our students. Students will get insight into their strengths and weaknesses and be provided with strategies for improvement. 11th grade scores will also be automatically entered into the National Merit Scholarship program. Important details:

  • Testing begins at 8:00 am.
  • Testing will conclude for students testing under regular time at approximately 10:45.  Students who qualify for extended time will finish at approximately 11:45. (Note: Extended time is built into the test for those that qualify.  They will not be able to opt out).
  • Students must be in uniform.
  • Students should bring the following items: fully charged iPad, pencil, calculator.

CAP & GOWN INFO FOR SENIORS - Senior year is finally here, and it’s a BIG deal! It is time to order your cap and gown for graduation! Jostens is our local partner and is here to help make this milestone unforgettable for you and your family. We are asking all Catholic Central Seniors to place your order by November 1, 2024 to secure the best pricing, avoid late fees, and ensure everything arrives on time. SEAL OF BILITERACY - Seniors- The Michigan Seal of Biliteracy is an award created to recognize high school graduates who exhibit proficiency in English and at least one additional world language. It provides employers with a way to identify individuals with strong language and biliteracy skills and may serve as an additional tool for colleges and universities to recognize applicants' language abilities for admission and placement. Seniors who are proficient in a second language are encouraged to fill out this form by Monday 10/14 to sign up for proficiency testing to qualify which will take place Thursday, October 17 at CC.  Retake opportunities will be provided and there is no cost to the test. Questions?  Please contact Mrs. Smitley or see your World Language teacher or Mr. Passinault in room 507 no later than Monday, 10/14. Juniors interested in the Seal of Biliteracy will be offered testing in the Spring semester.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • CC v. EGR football game Friday 10/18 - student volunteers needed- Beer City Dog Biscuits needs a few student volunteers to sell Hearts of Gold t-shirts before and during the game at Pioneer stadium.  You receive free admission to the game, 3+ service hours in MobileServe and a whole lot of admiration!!  Please see Mrs.Smitley no later than Wednesday 10/16.
  • The SJV Auction is on Sat, Nov. 9, and they are hoping to recruit some CC students’ time and talent to help with the event. Sign up to help with a shift HERE.

CATHOLIC CENTRAL SPECTATOR EXPECTATIONS - This is a reminder that in order to provide the safest, most secure environment for all our fans, Catholic Central will be enforcing the following policies at all of our home football games at Cougar Stadium.

TUTORING AVAILABLE - Drop-in tutoring sessions are available in October on Tuesdays and Thursdays

  • 7-8am in the library with Mrs. Ciucci
  • 3-4pm in the 1st floor Student Center* with Mrs. O'Rourke (location has been changed)

In November we will go back to offering Mon/Wed after school tutoring.

SERVICE ACADEMY NIGHT - Service Academy Night (Coast Guard/Merchant Marine/ Air Force/Naval/ West Point) - Wednesday, October 15, 2024, from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Gerald R Ford Museum.  No registration required.

COLLEGE VISITS - A representative from the colleges listed will be available to meet with CC students in grades 10-12.  Reserve your spot 24 hours prior to the visit through SCOIR.
