ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2024

SERVE-A-THON - Quick reminder that you can dress down on Thursday and Friday of this week if you meet your Serve-a-thon participation goal before school begins on Thursday. Participation = donations of $75+ OR donations of $5+ from three donors.

***If you meet your goal and are dressing down, please report to the student center between 7:30am-7:55am on Thursday for a wristband that will indicate that you have permission to dress down***

HOMECOMING GUEST PASSES - Homecoming guest passes are available in the main office and are due by this Friday, September 13. Signatures from your guest’s school are required, so don’t delay in getting this form filled out!

HOMECOMING  INFORMATION - We are excited to invite you to Catholic Central Homecoming 2024! The leadership team has been hard at work planning your special night. The theme of this year’s Homecoming is Groovy Nights and Neon Lights, come out to enjoy a night in the 80’s!

• Date : September 21, 2024
• Time : 8pm-11pm, Doors close at 9pm
• Where: The CAT (2770 Knapp St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525)
• Open to: 10th-12th grade Catholic Central students and guests with a guest pass
• Guest Passes: can be picked up in the main office, due Friday, September 13th
• Ticket Cost: $20 per person with cash or check made out to Catholic Central
• Ticket Sales: Lunches Tuesday 9/17 - Friday 9/20 All tickets must be purchased by Friday, September 20. some text
  • If paying for your ticket to homecoming is a financial concern, please contact Ms. Green, Mrs. Joynt, or your counselor for assistance. We do not want financial concern to be a barrier to enjoying this night with your classmates.

• Monday 9/16 - Meme Day: recreate your favorite (school appropriate) meme
• Tuesday 9/17 - Country vs. Country Club Day
• Wednesday 9/18 - Full Uniform: Mass Day
• Thursday 9/19 - Twin/Triplet Day
• Friday 9/20 - 80’s Day

All students must be appropriate and meet the guidelines laid out in the student handbook. No leggings (unless under shorts), bare midriffs, or references to politics, drugs or alcohol are allowed at any time.

ESPORTS - Esports will have its first meeting this Thursday, September 12, during Focus Time. Anyone interested should sign up for Mr. Eek’s Focus Time to learn more information and have all of your esports questions answered!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Retriever Fever is a free community event and fundraiser for Paws With A Cause where people bring their dogs to have a friendly competition on who is the top dog…a Golden Retriever or the Labrador Retriever! Volunteers are needed to help set up the day of the event, Saturday, September 21, 8am-10am to set up tables, chairs, and tents at Riverside Park. BABYSITTER WANTED - There is a Catholic family in need of a babysitter for evenings and weekends for parents date nights and some after school help here and there. Their last sitter was a CCHS student but just graduated and is attending college out of town. They have 3 children at home (6, 4, 2 yo) and an infant. They live in Ada/Cascade and the children go to school at St. Paul’s. They are looking for an organized and responsible girl who can say bedtime prayers and manage 3 (and eventually 4) adorable children! They prefer a sitter who can drive or have parents who can drive, but if she lives close they may be able to help with getting to/from the house. TUTORING - Tutoring will begin this week in the Library. Morning tutoring is Tuesday, Wed, Thursday from 7-8 (English/Social Studies focus). Afternoon tutoring is Monday, Tuesday, Wed, Thursday from 3-4 in the library; math and science teachers are tutoring but students can get help with anything they need help with. All students are welcome to walk in when support is needed.

STEAM OPPORTUNITY - Mary Free Bed is offering Health Career Seminars. Once you attend a seminar session, you are able to complete a 4 hour job shadow experience. This experience will count for STEAM hours and you must be 16 or older to participate. Please see this FLIER for additional information. CATHOLIC CHARITIES CHAMPIONS - If you are over 16 and are looking for a way to make a difference in the West Michigan community please consider applying to be a Catholic Charities Champion for the 24-25 school year.  If you would like more information click this link or stop by 501 to talk with Mrs. Perry. The deadline for applications is Sep 20, 2024. 

BLOOD DRIVE - For those who have signed up to donate blood - please check your emails for some important reminders. Please head to the gym entrance by your appointment time. Please make sure to:

• Stay well hydrated
• Have a snack or eat before your appointment
• Bring your state ID/driver's license - if you don’t have a state ID your student ID will work
• If you are 16 bring the signed permission slip from your parents
• If you can’t make your appointment please cancel it online or email Mrs. Perry asap
