ADVANCING CATHOLIC CENTRAL'S MISSION

President Search

Introduction

Catholic Central High School is currently seeking to fill the position of president of the school. The Board of Directors has empowered a Presidential Search Committee to find the most qualified and faith-filled candidate who will embrace the school’s long history of Catholic mission, academic excellence, and tradition, which is rooted in the Dominican pillars of prayer, study, service, and community. Confident in the Holy Spirit’s presence and guidance in this process, the board and the search committee are dedicated to an uncompromising goal of identifying the very best candidate to fill the position.

Members of the President Search Committee

The search committee is comprised of twelve members who have been appointed and approved by the Board of Directors to fulfill this search process. The members represent a broad range of people from the Catholic Central community, including parents, alumni, teachers, clergy, athletics, and donors. Deacon Lawrence Duthler is serving as the chair of the committee. Questions may be directed to him at lduthler@basilicagr.org.

President’s Role & Qualifications

Catholic Central High School operates under a president/principal leadership model similar to most Catholic high schools across the country. Under this model, the president serves as the chief executive officer and face of the school in the community. The principal is responsible for the day-to-day head of academic operations, reporting to the president. The president is the outward-facing "Institution Builder" – fundraiser, friend-raiser, and mission advocate – while the principal is the inward-facing "Community Builder" – setting the tone, raising academic standards, and ensuring the quality of the staff and student experience.

The distinct responsibilities of the president drive the need to find someone who possesses the following qualities and qualifications:
  • A faith-filled practicing Catholic who will embrace and compellingly promote the school's Catholic identity and mission while modeling those values in his or her daily practices.
  • A gifted communicator and listener who can earn the trust of the Catholic Central community.
  • A person who grasps the importance of donor relations and can successfully make the case for philanthropic support through his/her inspiring passion for mission and care for the future of Catholic Central.
  • A leader who can build relationships, engage in collaborative dialogue, and energize the school community by ensuring that the mission and vision of the school are achieved through practical steps and goals that will make that mission and vision an enduring and generative reality.
